The planes that provide the data are stuck on the ground. What is the forecast for forecasting?

While we were growing used to skies blissfully free of noisy aeroplanes during lockdown, it was a mixed blessing for meteorologists. Every day they were accustomed to receiving millions of weather observations from commercial flights – information on wind speed or air temperature some 10km above the Earth at a given point.
