Enjoying the fruits of your labour: how Mary MacRory’s tennis court project transformed her life

Many of us like to enjoy a strawberry on a summer’s day but, as a reward for a long and successful career in finance, Mary MacRory thought she would go one better.

She and her family had recently moved to 11½ acres of beautiful rural land in County Kildare, Ireland, and at the heart of it was going to be her organic strawberry farm.

Ms MacRory, a trained accountant and financial controller, moved with her family from Dublin in search of peace and quiet and a project that could be an antidote to her busy corporate job. With a botany degree and experience working on an organic farm, growing strawberries seemed like an achievable challenge.
